As you probably know, when you download WordPress, it comes with one or 2 default themes that nobody uses anymore, because they’re too “default” :) So do you!

Therefore, the next step is to find a WordPress Theme that fits your needs the most. From what I’ve seen so far, a high percentage of WordPress Themes are pretty basic and not so well done, so you probably won’t be too happy with them.

Now… the big question is… what do they offer? What kind of options do you get? With free themes you get almost nothing, where as premium themes giveyou the possibility of adding personal informations, put banners, adsense, easily track your website, etc. etc.

Let’s take, for example, the Socrates theme, recently released. They give you

 200+ Niche Header Designs

4 Custom Nav Bars with New Window and No Follow Links!

Optional Built In Adsense, Affiliate and Clickbank Ad Bar

Social Media Slider – Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn,YouTube, RSS

Choose from Dozens of Backgrounds On The Fly

Custom Styling and Color Options

Affiliate Program Integration

728×90 Banner Custom HTML Rotator

Multiple Sidebar Layouts

Internet Marketing and WordPress Training

Monetize With Any Affiliate Program or Network

Sales Page Templates

I know why you are here :) It’s either because you didn’t find what you were looking for in your admin panel or you wanted to ask me a question.

Ok, here’s the deal: wordpress.org and wordpress.com isn’t the same thing.

The .org one is the platform, the application. It’s exactly like any little program you install on your machine, with the only difference that it runs online, somewhere on a server (I’m not going to explain here what a server is). You download it, install it, then start posting, changing options, themes, installing plugins yada yada… about anything you can think of.

The .com one is basically the same thing, just that it isn’t the same thing :). It’s already installed, you just need to signup and you’re setup and ready to go. Now… the big problem here is you don’t have to pay for hosting or to struggle installing anything anywhere, you just get to your admin panel and start playing there… I know, this doesn’t sound like a problem at all. Yes it does. At some point, you might need something that wordpress.com doesn’t offer, or even worse, you might find out your blog got deleted for some reason.

So, my advice is to go the hard way, your own domain way.

Reply to this post if you need more info ;) I usually reply pretty fast

We’ll talk a little about mobile clients, email clients, IM, widgets, etc, as we know twitter supports updating by phone and many other ways. Actually this is what twitter was built for, to give the users the possibility to update their status from anywhere, even if they don’t have internet connection.

As for mobile clients (I’m not talking about updating by SMS, that’s supported by every cell phone, but regular apps that you can install and run from your mobile):

TwitterBerry – It works over the data network, so you don’t need to use SMS

TwitterMail – Tweet via email, its name says everything

OutTwit – Update via outlook

TwitterIM – Same as Tiwttermail

There are also few widgets and addons supported by firefox and opera, if you need any of them simply google for “firefox twitter add-on” or “opera….” and you’ll find plenty of them for sure.

See ya next time!

Tweepler – Uhm … not very impressed with this one. I’d love a bulk remove feature for those who aren’t following me. Guys, if you see this, add it. PS: I like your color scheme

TwitDir – Off for maintenance, lol. I’m feeling that “site down” effect again.

Tweelow – Twitter yellow pages (never thought I’ll see this)

Just Tweet It – Find other twitters like you ( I think based on your posts).

Anyway, play with them and let me know which one to delete :)

Hey, tweeple.

I just finished my newest plugin named “TweetMe”.

Features:

it adds a tweet me button at the end of each post (just like it does on this post)

it automatically sends you to your update page on twitter (after that you just have to push submit)

it automatically shrinks the URL to a short one (so you don’t have to worry about the 140 chars limit anymore)

all your visitors will be able to share your URL on twitter with a total of 2 clicks

it’s very light (only few kb… ridiculous small actually)

Click here to download TweetMe for WordPress
